Amanda

AMANDA VOGEL is a Vancouver, B.C.-based certified fitness pro with a Master’s degree in human kinetics. She owns Active Voice, a writing, editing and consulting service for the fitness industry.

In addition to being the former vice president of a chain of all-women clubs, Amanda teaches group exercise classes and presents workshops at just about any fitness conference that she’s invited to.

When people ask Amanda what she does for a living, she says, “I’m a writer.” That almost always elicits a good response! (Seems people like writers.) When asked what magazines she’s written for, Amanda replies, “Oh, you know, mostly women’s magazines in Canada and the U.S.” By which she means: Best Health, Chatelaine, Today’s Parent, Health, Fit Pregnancy, Fitness, SELF, All You, Prevention, Cooking Light and Shape.

In conversations about her writing, Amanda usually forgets to mention that she also wrote a couple of books (both hammered out in the same year). There’s the one she co-authored: Baby Boot Camp: The New Mom’s 9-Minute Fitness Solution. Then there’s the one about yoga that she ghost wrote.

Career aside, Amanda is a mum (that’s Canadian for ”mom”) to a four-year-old daughter who is of course the cutest and most wonderful little person, ever. Amanda gets embarrassed when she hears Labradoodles being referred to as “designer dogs.” Because she has one.

Got a fitness product or book you want to bring to market or get in the media spotlight? Are you an editor who could use an experienced, credible writer for health/fitness articles and blogs? Contact Amanda today to inquire about her consulting, writing and ghost writing availability.
